Next generation web framework – QHSE online app
The NeuroSYS team was challenged to build the next generation web framework to bring the existing VARIO Enterprise application to the cloud. The rich desktop experience must be equalled using the latest web technology.
As a result, we’ve created the new web framework that is backwards compatible with the existing desktop system and copes with the complex front end requirements. It allowed INCERTA to increase customer satisfaction by providing clients with the modern web-based solution while keeping the benefits of the existing desktop system. The VARIO online application is being used by operating units of various companies, among which is Colruyt Group – the discount retailer with more than 500 locations in Belgium and France.
In a nutshell
- Design and implementation of dedicated meta language (VML - Vario Markup Language).
- VML describes what content should be displayed to the end user, how and in which way the user can interact with.
Process of moving the app to the cloud
INCERTA needed partner to build the next generation web framework to bring the existing VARIO Enterprise application to the cloud. The original desktop version of VARIO allows users to adapt it to their various needs, thanks to all configuration parameters built in the database and rendering data on-the-fly in real time for desktop clients. Due to this flexibility, the software has been continuously developed over the years and was still based on the client-server architecture with remote desktop clients. Complementing such a system with a compatible web application based on the new tech stack was the project’s main goal.
Backwards compatible web framework solution
According to the client’s request, the web version needed to be based on exactly the same database framework as the desktop app. Therefore, the first stage of the project was devoted to running a proof of concept. During this stage, we designed the architecture and simulated all main functionalities to make sure that the whole project is feasible to develop.
After we got the evidence that the system can be successfully developed, we set up the Scrum team that delivered the working solution for one of the VARIO system’s users. As a result, we created the new web framework that is backwards compatible with the existing system and copes with the complex front-end requirements. Two systems are fully compatible and interchangeable.
“The value for money is very high in comparison with what Belgium has to offer. Highly qualified developers. Working together goes very smooth.”
